Find Several that work for you
| For individuals who need to, one way to increase your income and not jeopardize your disability claim is to find several online business with a high pay out and join them. Some offer "affiliate programs" while others will offer you a free affiliate page to market. This is known as "performance based marketing". Many of the links on my Awareness/Shopping page are Affiliate links where I am paid a small percentage of all sales generated from my site. My site is relatively new, so it is not exactly making me rich but in time I hope the will generate enough residual income to at least help out. There are programs you can join such as Commission Junction or ShareASale where you can sign up as an affiliate for multiple merchants all in one place. These marketing companies generally offer you your own account where you can manage all of your affiliate accounts in one place. Once you have chosen several, the next step is to build your site and then market it so that you get traffic to your affiliate links. The more traffic you generate, the more residual income you will make. Marketing Your Site Internet Marketing can be very confusing with all of the different ways to do it. There is PPC, PPP, Google Adsense and many others to choose from. Your advertising budget will be the determining factor in which kind of marketing campaign you choose. If you have $50-$100 per month to invest in advertising your site/s that is the best way to go. Yahoo, Google, MSN and most of the major engines have monthly plans where you deposit into an account and bid on "keywords" that pertain to your site content. When an internet surfer searches for a keyword you have selected in your account, your site is listed in the search results and if clicked upon the amount you bid for that keyword is deducted from your account. I do not have that kind of an advertising budget so I do not use PPC but that gives you a general idea of how it works. I have recently added Google AdSense to this site and it has not been in place long enough to see how much residual income it alone will generate. Basically, Google will pay you .30 for every time a site visitor clicks on one of their ads or search results. When your account reaches $25 they deposit the cash into your bank account if that is the way you have it set up. The amount you make depends on how much traffic your site receives and how often your Google AdSense ads are clicked on. PPP is a new way to earn residual income from your site and is still in BETA. Signing up for Pay Per Play is FREE and when you incorporate PPP into your site, each time a visitor opens your site a 5 second advertisement is played, sponsored by advertisers who have signed on with PPP or "Pay Per Play". Once the PPP code is installed on your site you get paid everytime someone clicks on your site and stays for 2 seconds. While this program will not officially launch until February 1, 2008, the proposed payment structure is three-tiered and as follows: 25% of what the advertiser spends on PPP ads you serve on your own website(s). 5% of what the advertiser spends on PPP ads played on the website(s) of those you refer. 5% of what the advertiser spends on PPP ads played on the website(s) that your direct referrals bring on board. | Link And Banner Exchange Other ways to market your site include FFA's or "Free For Alls's"which are directories of links. (I don't recommend them as they don't produce traffic.) Classified ads like "Topix" work well as well as magazine and newspaper ads but the easiest and cheapest is to join several link and banner exchange programs. This is a cheap but slow way to generate traffic to your site and takes a while to see results. Sites like mine that need to have their banner seen but do not have an "affiliate program" will offer link exchange. (See the Link Exchange Page.) Webmasters who maintain a Fibromyalgia or awareness related sight can copy and paste my code into their website . Once I have visited their site and verified that my banner is on your site, I will place a reciprical link on mine. We both benefit. The better sites will have code for you to copy and paste into your site that generates the banner for you, Others will have a banner gif file that you can save to your computer and then upload to your own site, then attach a link to their site. Another form of link/banner exchange is where you have to earn credits for your banner to be shown in a network by putting a click through banner on your site. Most will offer one view per click through but some will offer a 3-1 ratio. It depends on the program you join. Being disabled, unable to work can place a huge burden on an individual. If you need to supplement your income with a website Yahoo and many other providers offer free websites. You have to ensure that you can conduct ecommerce wherever you build your site. The marketing tools mentioned here are just a few of the many available; however I have found these to be reliable and honest. By all means, check out every opportunity. Give them a try and if they don't work out, find another. Most of your time devoted to working as far as your website goes will be in finding ways to market it. Did you notice the Alertbar at the top of the page? This is yet another way you can draw attention to a page in your own site or to an afilliate link that you would like your site visitors to visit. I personally love this script and have gotten great results from it so far. It is free to join, easy to sign up and they give you 1000 free impressions for your trial. If you decide to keep using it you can purchase impressions for a very affordable rate. They also have an affiliate program that pays through PayPal. |
